Basketball Game Preview: Franklin County Lions vs. Stephens County Indians

Franklin County and Stephens County are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Franklin County Lions will challenge the Stephens County Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 94-49, which was the final score in Franklin County's tilt against Concord Academy on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 295th in Georgia, while the Eagles are ranked fifth in North Carolina).

Meanwhile, Stephens County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. 2025 welcomed they with a 58-37 loss courtesy of Athens Academy. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by exactly 21 points.

Stephens County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Franklin County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.

Franklin County came up short against Stephens County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 70-65. Can Franklin County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
