Baseball Recap: West Bend East Comes Up Short

West Bend East extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 4-20 in the process. They fell 4-0 to the Hartford Orioles. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Suns haven't been shut out since back in April.

As for Hartford, their win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

For Hartford's part, Ayden Grulke tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over six innings pitched. Grulke has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hartford's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Adian Kolb, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Another was Brady Helms, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, West Bend East will square off against Kettle Moraine at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hartford, they will venture away from home to square off against Grafton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Orioles 3.4, the Black Hawks 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
