Basketball Recap: Trico Gets the Win

Trico hadn't done well against Vienna recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Pioneers secured a 41-37 W over the Eagles. The game was the first time the Pioneers have beaten the Eagles on their court since January 14, 2020.

The victory made it two in a row for Trico and bumps their season record up to 2-6. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 3-5 Vienna and 2-3 Johnston City. As for Vienna, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Trico will be home for the holidays to greet New Athens at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pioneers will need to watch out since the Yellow Jackets have now posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. As for Vienna, they will head out on the road to face off against Johnston City at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
