Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central Christian). They rang in the new year with a 60-51 victory over the St. John Tigers on Friday. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 57-34 loss the last time these two teams met.

Despite the defeat, St. John saw an underclassman step up: freshman Emmett Delp posted 20 points. Braxton Alpers was another key player, putting up eight points.

The win made it two in a row for Central Christian and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for St. John, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Central Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Attica at 7:00 p.m. on January 14th. As for St. John, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 75-35 win against Kinsley on the 7th.
