Baseball Recap: Shasta Finds Home Field Redemption Against Pleasant Valley

There's no place like home for Shasta, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Pleasant Valley Vikings with a sharp 8-1 win on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on Owen Boesiger, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Shasta is undefeated when Boesiger posts two or more runs, but 8-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ty Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Shasta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasant Valley only posted a batting average of .200.

Shasta's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-12. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season.
