Basketball Recap: Russellville Comes Up Short

Russellville lost against Austin back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Russellville Golden Tigers received a blow as they fell 79-60 to the Austin Black Bears. While losing is never fun, the Golden Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Black Bears are ranked sixth).

When it comes to explaining why Russellville lost, don't look at EJ King. Despite the final result, he posted 22 points. King's evening made it 21 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Cameron Phinizee was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Russellville's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Austin, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-7.

Russellville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 74-70 defeat against Deshler on the 30th. Austin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
