Volleyball Recap: Chloe Hedstrom and Sofia Guida Secure Win for Newington

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southington, Newington was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the New Britain Golden Hurricanes. The Nor'easters haven't had any issues with the Golden Hurricanes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Newington not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept New Britain between 15 and 18 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-15, 25-18.

Newington was led to victory by Sofia Guida and Chloe Hedstrom. Guida had eight digs and six aces, while Hedstrom had eight digs and four aces. That's the most digs Guida has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Sasha Taschuk, who had four digs and four aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Newington was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Britain only served four.

New Britain's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Letty Rodriguez, who had 17 digs.

Newington's record now sits at 6-12. As for New Britain, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

Newington didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Rocky Hill on the 17th. As for New Britain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Berlin on the 17th.
