Baseball Recap: Robertson County Victorious

Robertson County got themselves on the board against Newport on Thursday, but Newport never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Wildcats. The Black Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Lucas Burden was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-2. Those hits marked the first that he got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Myers, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Robertson County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Newport, they are on a 33-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Robertson County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Covington Latin at 6:00 p.m. on April 7. As for Newport, they will square off against Holy Cross at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
