Basketball Recap: New Braunfels Christian Academy Wildcats vs. John Paul II Guardians
New Braunfels Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 45-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the John Paul II Guardians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Guardians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 34-26 back in January.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ellie Schwandt, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 17 boards. That was a full 37.1% of New Braunfels Christian Academy's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Lily Reimer was another key player, putting up seven points and six steals.
Even though they lost, New Braunfels Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Paul II only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Among those leading the charge was Leah Dorsey, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 14 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Burley, who earned seven points and seven boards.
New Braunfels Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-21. As for John Paul II, their victory bumped their record up to 6-17.
