The Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers will take on the Lordsburg Mavericks at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lordsburg will be up against a hot Mesilla Valley Christian School squad: the team just extended their winning streak to eight. Everything went the SonBlazers' way against Mescalero Apache on Saturday as they made off with an 18-2 victory.

Weston Marr was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Davis Coyle was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Jude Herrera, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Mesilla Valley Christian School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Lordsburg hadn't done well against Capitan recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Mavericks put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 21-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mavericks.
David Valarde was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. Lordsburg is undefeated when Valarde posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Justin Platz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Mesilla Valley Christian School pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lordsburg, their record is now 8-6.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mesilla Valley Christian School hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .458. However, it's not like Lordsburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mesilla Valley Christian School took their victory against Lordsburg in their previous meeting on Tuesday by a conclusive 14-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the SonBlazers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
