Preview: Valiant Cross Academy Warriors vs. Lee-Scott Academy Warriors

Valiant Cross Academy has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Lee-Scott Academy Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Monday, Valiant Cross Academy strolled past Eastwood Christian with points to spare, taking the game 67-48. Given Valiant Cross Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Eastwood Christian is ranked 424th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Valiant Cross Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Deondrae Williams out in front who scored 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Moore, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Lee-Scott Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 72-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valiant Cross Academy on Friday.

Valiant Cross Academy pushed their record up to 18-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Lee-Scott Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 19-4 record this season.

Valiant Cross Academy beat Lee-Scott Academy 72-59 when the teams last played on Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valiant Cross Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
