Elizabeth proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Sand Creek Scorpions 4-3. The win was nothing new for the Cardinals as they're now sitting on three straight.

Cade Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trevor Bertsch, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Elizabeth's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Sand Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Elizabeth will venture away from home to challenge Strasburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Sand Creek, they will face off against Salida at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Scorpions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
