Baseball Recap: Mosinee's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

It's playoff time, and Mosinee had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Abbotsford Falcons a 12-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Indians have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mosinee got a great performance from Zach Nechuta as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Nechuta a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler Baars, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Lokken, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The victory (which was Mosinee's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Abbotsford, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Mosinee will challenge Ashland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Indians have won six straight at home, while the Oredockers won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Abbotsford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
