Basketball Recap: Wakefield Takes a Loss

Wakefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tavyanna Parker led the charge by going 7 of 9 en route to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Avery Bacon, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Wakefield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, their record now sits at 6-9.

Wakefield will take on Tri County Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, they will host Mead at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
