Softball Recap: Kaneland Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Kaneland ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Brynn Woods spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Natalie Naab was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Kaneland's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for LaSalle-Peru, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.

Coming up, Kaneland is taking a road trip to take on Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for LaSalle-Peru, they will welcome Morris at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
