Baseball Recap: Tucker County Comes Up Short

Tucker County had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-8 to make it 12. They lost 18-0 to the Pendleton County Wildcat. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcat this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 last Monday.

As for Pendleton County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Pendleton County's part, Cooper Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Smith has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Owens, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March of 2025. Mason Miller was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Tucker County will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Petersburg at 5:30 p.m. As for Pendleton County, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-3 defeat against Hampshire on the 13th.
