Football Preview: Waldron Bulldogs vs. Ozark Hillbillies

Waldron is 0-6 against Ozark since September of 2016 but things could change on Friday. After each having a week off, both will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Waldron lost to Muldrow at home by a 28-14 margin. Waldron has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ozark, who bounced back after a loss on the road on September 6th. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 35-34 victory over Charleston. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but the Hillbillies were the better team in the second half.

Ozark found their leader in underclassman Cade Capp, who rushed for 253 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 102 yards and a touchdown on only nine passes. Capp really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Ozark was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 394 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 230 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

Waldron now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Ozark, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Waldron was dealt a bruising 42-3 loss at the hands of Ozark in their previous meeting back in November of 2021. Can Waldron avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
