Football Game Preview: Chamberlain Cubs vs. Parker Pheasants

The Chamberlain Cubs will venture away from home to square off against the Parker Pheasants at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Chamberlain took a 39-point defeat the last time they faced off against Mt. Vernon/Plankinton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Cubs made off with a 7-6 win over the Titans.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Parker, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 30-20 victory over McCook Central/Montrose on Friday. The Pheasants' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Parker pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.0 points over those games. As for Chamberlain, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Chamberlain took their victory against Parker when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 22-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cubs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
