Baseball Recap: Green Hope Beats Apex for Their Fourth Straight Win

Green Hope extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 8-11 in the process. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Apex Cougars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-2 on Tuesday.

Troy Haynes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.

At the plate, Green Hope got a massive performance out of Dylan Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Johnson a new career-high. Elijah Martin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Apex, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

On Apex's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JADEN GAYLES, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Coming up, Green Hope will be playing at home against Cary at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Imps have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.24 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Apex, they will square off against Holly Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
