Basketball Recap: Southmont Comes Up Short

Southmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 34-29 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fountain Central Mustangs. The Mounties were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Southmont's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Fountain Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Southmont will be home for the holidays to greet Western Boone at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fountain Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Indiana School for the Deaf at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
