Soccer Game Preview: Lane Tech vs. New Trier

Lane Tech is 0-8 against New Trier since May of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Champions will be taking part in a tournament against the Trevians at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lane Tech comes in on eight and New Trier on seven.

Lane Tech is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Neuqua Valley, who was ranked fifth at the time (Lane Tech was ranked 13th). The Champions' defense stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. Give Lane Tech's defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Jackson Caffey, who's now up to 11 this season.

Meanwhile, New Trier made easy work of St. Charles North on Thursday and carried off a 6-0 victory. New Trier might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by three goals or more this season.

New Trier's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-0-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those six games. As for Lane Tech, their win bumped their record up to 12-1-2.

Lane Tech came up short against New Trier in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Champions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
