Fleet junior shortstop and outfielder leads undefeated Lake Creek in the 5A state playoffs.

Only two Texas girls have stolen at least 60 bases in 2022 and one is quickly approaching 70. Maddie McKee, a junior shortstop and outfield for undefeated Lake Creek (Montgomery), leads the Lone Star State with 69 stolen bases, edging Brooke Otto of Smithville at 65.

McKee is having a stellar all-around season, hitting .582 through 33 games with 64 hits, 45 RBI and 60 runs. She's also blasted 12 doubles, six triples and seven home runs.

She's stolen bases in all but five games for the 33-0 Lions, who continue Class 5A playoff action starting Thursday with a three-game set versus Waller (28-9).
