Volleyball Recap: Watauga's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Six + How To Watch

Watauga came tearing into Wednesday's game with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Ashe County Huskies by a score of 3-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 17, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Watauga had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-14, 25-11, 27-25.

Watauga was led to victory by Caroline Childers and Lilli Combs. Childers had 25 digs and four aces, while Combs had 22 digs and one assist. Those 22 digs gave Combs a new career-high. Emma Pastusic also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Watauga was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Watauga's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Ashe County, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watauga will venture away from home to challenge Forbush at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ashe County, they will challenge Elkin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
