Baseball Recap: Waterville Takes a Loss

Waterville started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against John Bapst Memorial. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-2 to the Crusaders, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Garrett Gendreau was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Felix Chapa, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Waterville now has a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Waterville will head out to challenge Oceanside at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mariners have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for John Bapst Memorial, they will be playing at home against Caribou at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
