Softball Game Preview: Ash Fork/Seligman Spartans vs. Kingman Bulldogs

The Ash Fork/Seligman Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Kingman Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Ash Fork/Seligman has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Tuesday, Ash Fork/Seligman beat Salome 14-11.

The team relied heavily on Aspen Bond, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Arlette Sotelo-Ayala, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases and one double.

Ash Fork/Seligman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Kingman entered their tilt with Highland Prep on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Honey Badgers. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Ash Fork/Seligman has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Kingman, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

Ash Fork/Seligman might still be hurting after the 16-3 loss they got from Kingman when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
