Basketball Recap: Trinity Prep Comes Up Short

Trinity Prep suffered their biggest loss since November 29, 2024 on Friday. They were outmatched by the Victory Baptist Warrior and fell 81-51. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warrior apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

Despite the loss, Trinity Prep still got an impressive performance from Beau Blocker, who went 13 of 20 on his way to 33 points and five boards. The matchup was Blocker's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aboubacar Sylla, who posted six points and 11 rebounds.

Victory Baptist was led to victory by Carson Kuykendall and Eric Banks Jr. Kuykendall put up 19 points, while Banks Jr had 16 points. Kuykendall continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Dontaye Bell was another key player, putting up ten points.

Trinity Prep's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. As for Victory Baptist, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Prep has already played their next game (against Academe of the Oaks), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Victory Baptist will square off against Loganville Christian Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Loganville Christian Academy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight defeats, while Victory Baptist will come in with six straight victories.
