Football Game Preview: Spiro Bulldogs vs. Atoka Wampus Cats

The Spiro Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Atoka Wampus Cats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Spiro comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Spiro is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Morris on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bulldogs were outmatched by the Eagles and fell 43-6. The Bulldogs were down 29-0 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Atoka took a blow against Valliant on Thursday, falling 60-23. While losing is never fun, the Wampus Cats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 110th).

Spiro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Atoka, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Spiro beat Atoka 28-21 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
