Piedra Vista turns things around after tough road loss

The Piedra Vista Panthers's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to the Centennial Hawks on Tuesday. Piedra Vista came out on top against Los Lunas by a score of 49-39. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Piedra Vista also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.

Tyra Holyan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. The contest was her 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Smith, who scored nine points.

Piedra Vista's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Los Lunas, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Piedra Vista will be playing in front of their home fans against Capital at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. As for Los Lunas, they will head out on the road to face off against Valencia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Valencia is ranked 21st, while Los Lunas is ranked 33rd).
