Softball Recap: South Portland Red Riots vs. Noble Knights
South Portland was the 25-0 winner over Noble when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Riots lost 24-12 to the Knights on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Red Riots have suffered against the Knights since May 9, 2018.
Annalise Soucy and Baylie Littlefield stepped up to the plate in a big way. Soucy went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Littlefield went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples and three RBI. Those triples marked the first that Littlefield has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Edgar, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for South Portland and nudges their season record down to 6-9. As for Noble, they moved to 3-11 with that victory, which also ended their ten-game losing streak.
Coming up, South Portland will challenge Deering at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Noble, they will square off against Falmouth at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights are facing the Navigators at the right time seeing as the Navigators are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
