Softball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Western Branch

Western Branch waltzed into their contest on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They never let the King's Fork Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Western Branch got a great performance from Ava Giacometti as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Giacometti has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maddie Lemasters was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Bernheimer, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.

Western Branch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive matchups.

Western Branch pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for King's Fork, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10.

As of now, neither Western Branch nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
