Volleyball Recap: Mullins Marion Christian Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Mullins Marion Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cornerstone Christian Academy Cougars on Friday, sneaking past 3-2. For the Cavaliers, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Mullins Marion Christian was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (106-102), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 25-22, 15-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-13.

Despite the loss, Cornerstone Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ashlynn Lanning had 20 kills, five aces, and one block. Those 20 kills set a new season-high mark for Lanning. Onnah Vincent was another key player, getting 11 kills.

Mullins Marion Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Cornerstone Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
