Recap: Nimitz Cougars vs. MacArthur Generals
The Nimitz Cougars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They blew past MacArthur, posting a 65-35 win on the road. Given Nimitz's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while MacArthur is ranked 1103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dominic Samuel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 13 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Bergeron, who scored nine points.
Nimitz has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. As for MacArthur, they bumped their record down to 3-19 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
Nimitz will take on Spring at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Spring focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday. As for MacArthur, they will head out on the road to face off against Westfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Westfield is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
