North Vermillion and Attica are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Ramblers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. North Vermillion has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin hit North Vermillion with a seven-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 13-3. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
North Vermillion saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Jumps, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Attica made sure to put some runs up on the board against Faith Christian on Tuesday. The Red Ramblers blew past the Eagles 13-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Red Ramblers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Anni Reynolds made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Maddie Beck was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aleah Cruz, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Attica kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Faith Christian only managed five hits.
Attica's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for North Vermillion, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
Saturday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Vermillion hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Attica struggles in that department as they've averaged .353. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North Vermillion suffered a grim 26-14 defeat to Attica when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
