Football Recap: Reidsville Rams vs. East Rutherford Cavaliers

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Reidsville can now relate to. They and the East Rutherford Cavaliers were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but they suffered a 27-26 defeat. The Rams' loss signaled the end of their 23-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Reidsville still got an impressive performance from Dionte Neal, who rushed for 124 yards on only 12 carries. Neal was even better on defense, forcing a fumble and making three total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Reidsville wouldn't let East Rutherford keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force eight fumbles. Reidsville can thank Trey Slade and Neal for forcing all of them.

Leading East Rutherford to victory were Brandon Pinkerton and Blake Mcclellan. Pinkerton rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns, while Mcclellan rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown. Pinkerton has been hot , having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played.

Having lost for the first time this season, Reidsville fell to 11-1. As for East Rutherford, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Reidsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Rutherford, they will take on Brevard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Brevard knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully East Rutherford likes a good challenge.
