Soccer Game Preview: Westfield vs. Plainfield

The Westfield Shamrocks will venture away from home to square off against the Plainfield Quakers at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Westfield had taken Harrison down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Shamrocks took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. While losing is never fun, Westfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Harrison are ranked second).

Meanwhile, Plainfield's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They had just enough and edged out Indianapolis Bishop Chatard 2-1. Cameron Carman had to tread lightly for part of the match after he was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble Plainfield got from the refs.

Emerson Jean and Jerry Saintil scored both of Plainfield's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

This is the second loss in a row for Westfield and nudges their season record down to 5-8-1. As for Plainfield, the victory got them back to even at 5-5-3.

Westfield skirted past Plainfield 1-0 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Shamrocks since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
