Basketball Recap: Prout's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

Prout was the 59-56 winner over Ponaganset when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Prout Crusaders fell just short of the Ponaganset Chieftains by a score of 77-74 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (67), the Crusaders still had to take the loss.

Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charlie Horne, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. Horne has been hot, having posted 18 or more points the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lawson O'Hearn, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 boards.

Even though they lost, Prout smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ponaganset only pulled down five offensive rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ponaganset to victory, but perhaps none more so than TIm Hicks, who went 6 of 11 en route to 12 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Brady Miller was another key player, putting up 21 points.

Prout's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7. As for Ponaganset, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Prout didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-48 victory against Davies Career & Tech on the 4th. Ponaganset has also already played their next game, a 67-54 win against Hope on the 4th.
