Payson won against Springville last Tuesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Payson Lions blew past the Emery Spartans 12-1. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Lions this season.
Peyton Staheli made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Staheli was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paisley Beckstead, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3. Haven Jarvis also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Payson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
