Basketball Recap: Robert C. Byrd Comes Up Short

Robert C. Byrd managed to slip by Wheeling Central Catholic the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Robert C. Byrd Eagles were beaten by the Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights 88-34 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th in West Virginia, while the Maroon Knights are ranked fourth in West Virginia).

Kaitlyn Blake continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wheeling Central Catholic, dropping a double-double with 26 points and ten rebounds. The match was Blake's seventh in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Seneca Heller, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Robert C. Byrd and nudges their season record down to 4-18. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, they pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Robert C. Byrd has already played their next contest, a 44-30 defeat against Ritchie County on the 24th. Wheeling Central Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
