Recap: South Eugene Axe vs. Roseburg Indians
The South Eugene Axe pushed their score all the way to 72 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 83-72 to Roseburg. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (62), South Eugene still had to take the loss.
South Eugene's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Levi Hawes, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Saunders, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for South Eugene and nudges their season record down to 10-9. As for Roseburg, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Eugene will face off against South Medford at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. South Medford presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Eugene in Oregon (South Medford is ranked 20th, while South Eugene is ranked 72nd). As for Roseburg, they will head out on the road to challenge Sheldon at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
