Volleyball Recap: Lanphier Lions vs. Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones
Lanphier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones. The Lions were not able to make up for their loss to the Cyclones from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.
The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-7.
Hayden Montgomery paced Lanphier's offense, picking up three kills. Montgomery got some help from Alaina Sinks and her four assists.
Sacred Heart-Griffin found their leader in sophomore Addison Brown, who had 12 assists and four aces. Brown is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Genesis Thirunelli also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Lanphier's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Sacred Heart-Griffin, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Coincidentally, Lanphier and Sacred Heart-Griffin will both be playing Springfield Southeast the next time they take the court. The Cyclones will host the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Lions will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
