Basketball Recap: Erin Authorlee Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cypress Park

Cypress Woods won the last time they faced Cypress Park and things went their way on Saturday too. The Cypress Woods Wildcats strolled past the Cypress Park Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 47-30. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Tigers are ranked 898th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cypress Woods' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Erin Authorlee, who went 6-for-11 on her way to 15 points and four steals. Authorlee continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jada Luke, who posted ten points and six boards.

Despite the defeat, Cypress Park saw an underclassman step up: freshman Caylin Morris earned eight points and 11 rebounds.

Cypress Woods' record now sits at 18-16. As for Cypress Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-22 record this season.

Cypress Woods has already played their next game, a 53-40 win against Bridgeland on the 5th. As for Cypress Park, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-41 loss against Waller on the 5th.
