Baseball Game Preview: Wayland-Cohocton Eagles vs. Le Roy Oatkan Knights

The Wayland-Cohocton Eagles will head out to face off against the Le Roy Oatkan Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wayland-Cohocton's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Le Roy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Wayland-Cohocton got the win against Mynderse Academy by a conclusive 13-1. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Le Roy entered their tilt with Haverling on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They skirted past the Rams 3-1.

Alex Spezzano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jake Higgins was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

The victory made it two in a row for Wayland-Cohocton and bumps their season record up to 16-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Le Roy, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
