Newark Tech had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 70-57 victory over the Newark Central Blue Devils. Given the Terries' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Newark Central still got an impressive performance from Drean Aikins, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 boards. Tamir Davis Jr was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Newark Tech's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Newark Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.

Newark Tech will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bard on February 26th. Newark Central has already played their next matchup (against West Side), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
