Football Game Preview: Columbus Discoverers vs. Millard North Mustangs + Official Tickets

The Columbus Discoverers will head out to face off against the Millard North Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Columbus' defense has only allowed 13.6 points per game this season, so Millard North's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Columbus will head out to face Millard North after giving up their first home loss of the season on Friday. The Discoverers fell 10-0 to Kearney. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Discoverers haven't been shut out since back in September.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Millard North, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Omaha Central by a score of 14-7 on Friday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Mustangs were the better team in the second half.

Columbus better keep an eye on Zion Rush. He was instrumental in Millard North's win, rushing for 100 yards on only nine carries, while also throwing for 50 yards and one TD.

Millard North's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Austin Ruhter refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Millard North got some further help from Ruhter: he picked up 1.5 sacks and made 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Millard North has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.0 points over those games. As for Columbus, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.

Columbus was dealt a bruising 41-0 defeat at the hands of Millard North when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rush, who threw for 171 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes.
