Baseball Game Preview: Natchez Bulldogs vs. North Pike Jaguars

Natchez is 0-4 against North Pike since March of 2024 but things could change on Friday. The Natchez Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the North Pike Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. Natchez has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Natchez came up short against Wesson on Thursday, falling 17-4. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Natchez saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JaCorrian Davis, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave Davis a new career-high in RBI. Mason Bouldin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, North Pike entered their tilt with Natchez on Tuesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Bulldogs 11-1.

Ty Jones and Brenan Stinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Jones tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Stinson pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Jones scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Stinson scored three runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JK Bales, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke LeBlanc, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

North Pike's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing nine hits in those games compared to only 4.09 in the others. As for Natchez, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Natchez might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from North Pike when the teams last played on Tuesday. Can Natchez avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
