Basketball Recap: Jack Nicholls' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kelly Walsh over Campbell County

Kelly Walsh and Campbell County squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Kelly Walsh had to settle for second. They fell 58-48 to the Campbell County Camels. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Camels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

Kelly Walsh lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jack Nicholls, who went 8-for-10 en route to 21 points. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Atnip, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Lane Hladky was his usual excellent self, shooting 41% from the field to rack up 25 points and three steals for Campbell County. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hladky has scored at least a third of Campbell County's points. Jack Andela was another key player, putting up 14 points and six boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Kelly Walsh and nudges their season record down to 13-11. As for Campbell County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Kelly Walsh has already played their next contest, a 57-48 victory against Star Valley on the 14th. As for Campbell County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-47 win against Sheridan on the 14th.
