Baseball Game Preview: Marquette Mustangs vs. Lindbergh Flyers

For the second straight game, Marquette will face off against Lindbergh. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Flyers at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Marquette 3.3, Lindbergh 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lindbergh will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Marquette extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Flyers 7-5. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

For Lindbergh's part, Luke Seiler made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Seiler hit this season. Another player making a difference was Austin Jones, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Marquette's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Lindbergh, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 12-4-1 record.
