Baseball Recap: Blackstone-Millville Takes a Loss

Blackstone-Millville had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-9 to make it nine. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Keefe Tech Broncos. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Blackstone-Millville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Rebhan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Keefe Tech, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Keefe Tech's side, Chris Anastos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Anastos also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Keefe Tech is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Anastos was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

In other batting news, Nate DeBoer was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Will Deveau was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Coming up, Blackstone-Millville is taking a road trip to face off against Douglas at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Keefe Tech, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Worcester Tech at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
