Basketball Recap: Jayden Daniels' Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Brunswick over Ashley

South Brunswick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ashley Screaming Eagle. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-34 back in December of 2024.

South Brunswick's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Daniels, who went 5 for 11 en route to 13 points and five rebounds. Chase Robinson was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

It was another big night for Quinn Bentley, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 24 points and five steals for Ashley. With that strong performance, Bentley is now averaging an impressive 16.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Nate Jarrell, who posted nine points.

South Brunswick's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Ashley, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-10 record.

South Brunswick has already played their next match, a 73-24 defeat against Hoggard on the 29th. As for Ashley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 52-51 win against Topsail on the 29th.
