Basketball Recap: North Fort Myers Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, North Fort Myers couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They had to suffer through a 57-28 loss at the hands of the Port Charlotte Pirates. The Red Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-12.

Despite the loss, North Fort Myers had strong showings from Amrey Stockeland, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds, and Kelley Conley, who put up seven points and six boards.

Port Charlotte was led to victory by Hailey Cohen and Jesslymar Santa. Cohen went 8 for 14 en route to 17 points and four steals, while Santa went 6 of 14 on her way to 15 points along with five boards and five steals. What's more, Santa also posted a 75% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in February of 2024. Cymone Bailey was another key player, putting up six points.

North Fort Myers' defeat dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Port Charlotte, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. North Fort Myers will square off against Clearwater at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Fort Myers' defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so Clearwater's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Port Charlotte, they will face off against Cape Coral at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Port Charlotte's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.
